This plant is also known as Royal Poinciana, Flame tree, & Peacock flower.
It is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful trees in the world.

in the late spring all along its long branches.
Truly a beautiful sight.
The size of the blooms are 3-4" across.
Delonix regia has many Mimosa-like leaves, produced on long graceful branches,
that provide delightfully broken shade under its canopy.
This light shade is great since it permits many plants to grow underneath that would
not be possible in the dense shade of other trees.
It also is a great place to set up a picnic table or chairs to relax in the shade.
The tree can grow to 20- 40 feet tall and considerably wider to form a flat mushroom shape.
It is an extremely fast growing tree.
The tree likes full sun and almost any kind of well-drained soil.
Plants should be allowed to dry out between watering.
It is a great tree for Xeriscaping, since it is drought tolerant.
This plant is often used as a bonsai speciman, and has been successfully bloomed in large pots.
Hardy in USDA zones 9b-11, Delonix regia is a tropical tree that grows best where it is warm all year.
They are very sensitive to frost and must be moved to a storage area when temperatures fall below 40° F.
Move them outdoors after the danger of frost and resume the regular watering procedures.
Mature trees can take some frost.
If hit by a light frost, the small branches will die off, but it should regrow in the spring.
It is typically a deciduous tree.
The leaves fall from the plant during winter dormancy.
