If you're looking for a truely exotic hibiscus, then look no further!
This hibiscus is absolutely stunning!
Hibiscus Andersonii (H. rosa-sinensis x H. schizopetalus) is a very old hibiscus variety that
appears all around the world in warmer climates. It is a prolific bloomer, and it has beautiful foliage
that provides color all on it's own.
H. Andersonii blooms throughout the year, with deep red 3" flowers. The single blooms are lightly textured,
slightly recurved and deeply fringed. Each bloom lasts one day.
The glossy, dark-green leaves have maroon/purple edges. This maroon color extends into the body of the leaves.
The coloration of the foliage varys with season and sun exposure. Leaves on the same plant can vary from
dark-green to full maroon.
Overall, the plant is upright and bushy, growing 6-8 feet. If left unpruned, the branches can become pendulous.
Pruning throughout the year produces a dense, bushy plant.
H. Andersonii enjoys full sun, and rich, well-drained soil. It can easily be grown as a container plant.
Hardy USDA Zone 9-11, but can be grown as a container plant.
