These plants are Heliconia psittacorum x H. spathocircinata.
This cross is known both as Guyana and Guadeloupe.
This heliconia is a vigorous, easy to grow plant.
It makes a beautiful, medium-sized 10-12" flower -- much larger than other psittacorums.
The flower bracts are dark orangy red and the sepals are dark yellow-orange with dark green tips.
Very pretty! And it blooms all year long!
The foliage is beautiful green and so tropical looking.
It makes a great cut flower.
Plant habit is erect and it spreads quickly.
The bracts are spirally arranged.
Can grow to be about 8 feet tall.
Grows well in full sun to partial shade.
It needs well-drained, rich, moist soil and it likes humidity.
Give it room to spread.
It is hardy in USDA zone 10b-11.
