Tahitian Gingers are sometimes called Double Red Gingers.

Do you like Red Gingers, but want them even bigger? Here is a big one! This alpinia makes flower heads that are HUGE!

This is a truly beautiful tropical specimen plant. The bright ruby-red flower spike is an unforgettable color. In ideal conditions, Tahitian Gingers can reach a height of 12 feet. These gingers make huge 12 inch red flowers against beautiful dark green foliage. Both the leaves and the flowers are excellent for cut flower arrangements.

They should be planted in full sun to part shade in rich, well-drained soil. They are hardy in USDA Zones 10-11. They need to be moved inside or into a greenhouse if outside temperatures go below 50° F. They like humidity and abundant water.
