Alpinia purpurata, Peachy Pink

Alpinia purpurata 'Peachy Pink' is believed to be part of the "Kimi" series of hybrids from Hawaii.

This is a truly beautiful tropical specimen plant. The bright peachy-pink flower spike is an unforgettable color. In ideal conditions, Alpinia purpuratas can reach a height of 10 feet. These gingers make compact flowers against beautiful dark green foliage. Both the leaves and the flowers are excellent for cut flower arrangements.

This variety produces abundant plantlets are on the flower heads, but no seeds.

They should be planted in full sun to part shade in rich, well-drained soil. They are hardy in USDA Zones 10-11. They need to be moved inside or into a greenhouse if outside temperatures go below 50°F. They like humidity and abundant water.
